These were the furs our grandmothers have been wearing in the state of CHICAGO ON CHRISTMAS 1928.

WHAT WAS TRENDY ON CHRISTMAS 1928?

The Hudson seal dyed musk rat coat with tailored collar and cuffs is be coming to Mildred Farley comptometer operator. The musk rat- the most democratic fur for more than a hundred years in Both worlds- the OLD WORLD AND THE NEW WORLD-SINCE 1918. The musk rat was so famous,- that Rudyard Kipling decided to give a friend CHUCHUNDRA- THE MUSK RAT to his beloved Mangusta- RIKKI TIKKI TAVI.

 Rosella Odenthal, dictaphone,oper chose a Jap weasel mink shade for her coat. The weasel- LA BELETTE- THE HERO OF THE FRENCH NATIONAL TALES AND SONGS. 

  Very flattering is the Siberian gray squirrel coat with platinum collar worn by Lillian Kieffer clerk. The gray squirrel- fur is best in winter, when the squirrel changes her fur into the color gray. This is good to know as a fact- no american lady was buying the brown squirrel fur in CHICAGO in 1928. Why? Only the gray squirrel will not get bald. The brown squirrel fur? Our grandmothers accepted only immitations.Do you notice the luscious fur color? This is  not the squirrel- this is the fox, my dear lady- the fox- the silver fox of the Arctic and Siberia. Our grandmothers accepted the fox as the standard collar for the fur coat or for the simple outerwear- only the fox!

Extreme right! A silver muskrat coat with self cuffs and collar of beaver suits Bernice Schneider's athletic type fur coat, special hat and the special make up of the year 1928- those pretty waxed curls on the cheekbones. the pretty black hat and the little black veil.

So? Did you learn your lesson? What did our grandmothers value as the furs in 1928- a hundred years ago in the Windy City- Chicago?

The musk rat, immitation of the Hudson seal, the fox, the mink, the gray squirrel. The most chick color? Of course color gray fur.
